Proposed Referendum Measures

Referendum petitions against a measure passed by the Legislature shall be filed with the Secretary of State not later than 90 days after final adjournment of the session in which the measure passed.

To be certified, a petition must contain the valid signatures of 162,258 registered voters (4% of the votes cast in the last regular gubernatorial election).   Questions regarding the content of referenda should be directed to the sponsor(s).

This bill would prohibit manufacturing, importing, distributing, selling, or offering to sell large capacity magazines, defined as certain ammunition-feeding devices that can accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition, and related kits or parts. It would not apply to such acts when done for the purpose of sale to the armed forces to in-state law enforcement, or for export from Washington. Violations would be gross misdemeanors and, if online, would violate the Consumer Protection Act.
