Proposed Referendum Measures

Referendum petitions against a measure passed by the Legislature shall be filed with the Secretary of State not later than 90 days after final adjournment of the session in which the measure passed.

To be certified, a petition must contain the valid signatures of 162,258 registered voters (4% of the votes cast in the last regular gubernatorial election). Questions regarding the content of referenda should be directed to the sponsor(s).
